A WINDOW TO WHAT COMES NEXT

For the past five years, VENtanas has walked alongside 86 children, helping them return to school, catch up academically and, just as importantly, reclaim a part of their childhood.

We began with the whole child.

Academic support helped close the gaps left by interrupted schooling. Music, art and team sports gave them other ways to discover their abilities, express themselves, belong and take pride in who they were becoming.

At the heart of it all is La Casita.

La Casita became their place, a refuge in the middle of everything they knew, yet somehow separate from it. For a few hours each afternoon, they could leave the street behind and simply be children again.

And something began to change.

They returned to learning. They rebuilt their confidence. They learned discipline and responsibility, discovered strengths they did not know they had and began to see themselves differently, not only for where they came from, but for where they could go.

Last year, every VENtanas child was enrolled in school; and every one of them successfully completed the school year.

For children whose education had once been interrupted by displacement, hardship and circumstances beyond their control, this was more than an academic milestone. It was the result of five years of showing up, catching up and learning to believe that their future could be different.

Now, they are growing up.

And VENtanas must grow with them.

This year, we will award our first three academic scholarships to children who have distinguished themselves through attendance, academic growth, perseverance and leadership.

These scholarships will give them access to a stronger high school education in an environment where the values, discipline and confidence they have developed at VENtanas can continue to grow.

And we will continue walking beside them, with university or technical education no longer something distant to imagine, but something they can begin preparing to reach.

Because rebuilding childhood also means making sure there is a future beyond it.

To the donors making this new chapter possible, our deepest gratitude. You are seeing not only who these children are today, but who they have worked so hard to become, and who they may still become.

And behind our first three scholars are more children at La Casita, doing their homework, finding their voices, discovering their strengths and preparing for the day when they, too, will be ready for what comes next.

VENtanas is not simply about giving a child an opportunity.

It is about preparing a child to be ready when that opportunity arrives.

And when it does, making sure the door is open.
